Distracted

Things have definitely been busy this month for our family and if you know me at all you know I hate busyness. I’m so prone to distraction and with selling the house and trips and planning and details I have been distracted. We’re preparing so much to go to Burundi, but in the preparation I don’t want to lose sight of the vision, the why.

The other day we were having a back and forth day with our realtor and the buyers realtor and trying to figure some things out and Samuel asked me to throw catch with him. I busily said, “Not now, buddy, I need to get this done.” Then I realized, no I don’t. I want to get this done right now, but what is in front of me at this moment, this brown eyed boy who is growing before my eyes is where my focus needs to be.

I’m sure we all can do this in our Christian walk, we get focused on what we’re doing and the ministry or even the study that the actual focus-Christ Himself is what we lose sight of all too quickly. The things were doing may be good and fine and need to be done, but if the focal point isn’t in focus it’s busy distraction.

So, I’ve been focused on the sale of our house, moving, packing, travel planning, support raising-non of these are bad things, but I have forgotten the why in the midst of the preparation, I’ve been distracted. I’m reminding myself today of the why. We’re going to Burundi because Josh and I believe God wants us to go first and foremost then we’re going to Burundi because of the opportunity to serve as a family to the least of these that Jesus says to go visit, tell them about Him and love them. These faces are why….

  1. Our sweet kiddos are such an innocent reminder that there is still fun and adventure to be had amidst the “busy”. 🩷
