It has come to my attention that I should be more clear in HOW to sponsor a widow. I’m so thankful and overjoyed for the people who have sponsored already and those who have had interest in sponsoring! So, here’s how to do it!
There are 2 forms of sponsorship through Sister Connection. Regular Sponsorship and In3 Sponsorship. The widows we are meeting with are in the Regular Sponsorship program, which means they can not work and have no means to provide for themselves. Often they are more elderly, have health issues or they are disabled and would not be able to learn a trade and have no one helping them. So many of these widows have been waiting for MANY years and we are praying God would fill the gap and bring many into sponsorship even this year.
Many of these widows who are elderly have lived through horrific events, often times they lived through the violence in the 70’s and they have lived through the war in Burundi that lasted 12 years. Many lost husbands and some lost children during that time, all of them lost someone to violence. Their society since the war is overwhelmed with the amount of widows and orphans and there is not much, if any, help for them.
For Regular Sponsorship: it is $40 a month. You can also choose to give the same amount quarterly or annually. 100% goes straight to that widow you are sponsoring. With that money she is able to buy food everyday for her and her family. She is able to send any school aged children or grandchildren she is caring for to school. And she is able to get adequate medical care when needed. With that money these precious women are also eager to give to others in more need because they know what it is to be forgotten and struggling. Again, if you want a specific widow I have written about just email us at joshandmichelle@proton.me and if there is no specific widow on your heart to sponsor you can go to this website to fill this form out and begin changing a widows life: https://app.aplos.com/aws/give/SisterConnectionANonprofitCorporation/WS
