Recently Josh and I were given a fun opportunity to be interviewed on a radio show. A friend Josh served with has a radio show out of Illinois entitled “God Loves Missions-Evidence of God at Work in the World”. When he heard we were planning to go to Burundi in the next year he asked if we would come on for a short interview. It was a fun experience as we sat in our kitchen in central Indiana and he sat in a radio studio in central Illinois and we talked through Zoom. The show is scheduled to air on December 16th and 17th on The Word WPEO.
We also just returned from a missions fair evening with World Renewal, our sending agency. They are celebrating 37 years of God’s faithfulness to sustain and continue the missions agency. It was neat to hear stories of what God is doing across the world and even how He is bringing the world to us. Did you know that 40% of the immigrants to the U.S. are from the 10-40 window? The hardest places to get in to share the Gospel are actually coming here. We were challenged to be bold right here in the U.S. to invite people in to our homes and share our culture and the Gospel with these people. There are some great agencies you could reach out to that serve refugees or foreign exchange student programs that you can learn and get connected with these people from the comforts of your own home.
One of the highlights for me from the missions fair was getting to talk to a 75 year old woman who has a passion for missions and then turn around and talk to a precious 5 year old girl who has a growing a passion for missions in her little heart too. I just LOVE that God has no age limits in His Kingdom nor in His Kingdom work. We can be a culture that negates children and their abilities to “help”, but as Christians we would be horribly mistaken to miss opportunities to teach our kids about missions, poverty, global issues, and to deny them the opportunity to teach us with their childlike faith in action that has the tendency to respond. Children are neither inhibited by budgets nor by financial statements, when they learn about the plight of the widow and orphan they are moved to act. So, if you need some motivation or encouragement to go or do something, I challenge you to talk to a 75 year old woman who has a passion for missions or better yet tell a 5 year old about the life of another child like them that lives in dire poverty, I’m betting their responses may inspire you too.
